My cartooning class is experimenting with digital colorization using Adobe Photoshop. One student is hesitant to embrace the technology, saying quite adamantly that she prefers to color by hand. She says that her skills on paper far exceed the skills on a computer. I tried to explain to her that a lot of artists are using digital media these days especially now that technology has gotten so advanced. I know it’s “keeping up with the times” but I couldn’t help but agree with her on some small level. I love Ps and everything Adobe: they’re fabulous programs and really help kids produce high quality artwork. But… will this technology eventually make traditional art methods obsolete?
What is art?
What do you think art actually IS? What does art mean to you?
Welcome!
Welcome to my new art blog. This is meant to be a forum for new topics, ideas, reactions, and general discussion about everything that’s art. I will be posting images, questions, and thoughts here and there as I can, so be sure to check back often to see what’s new and upcoming.
